Running for Scott 5K Run / Walk

The Trike Project is an organization created to help children with special needs obtain adapted tricycles for therapeutic and recreational use.

Join us all in supporting The Trike Project at the annual ‘Running for Scott 5K Walk/Run‘ on May 20th, 2018 at Laremont School, Grayslake. No need for you to be in top running shape, you can still walk! There is also a Mile Walk and a Kids Race. Many other options to help the cause. Go check out The Trike Project site for more details and registration info!

The Trike Project is dedicated to raising funds to assist families that wish to purchase adapted tricycles. See their story…

2018 National Walk for Epilepsy

Join us at the 12th Annual National Walk for Epilepsy, April 14, 2018 as we lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy, accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.

The money raised from the National Walk for Epilepsy helps the Foundation provide services for people living with epilepsy, provide awareness programs for proper seizure recognition and first aid, provide a voice to make sure health care options for people living with seizures remain strong, and provide much needed research funding toward better treatment options and ultimately cures.

For more information see Walk for Epilepsy!

2016 Tottleberry Open

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who has participated over the past few years we are expanding this year’s golf outing. This year’s event will fully benefit thE WERTHy Foundation which has most of you know is a 501(c)(3) organization inspired from my daughter Erin. I have provided a little informational sheet on the organization/inspiration and through the generosity of all of you and many others we have been able to donate thousands of dollars in electronic equipment to Erin’s school (Laremont in Gages Lake) already with bigger aspirations going forward.

Event: Tottleberry Open benefitting thE WERTHy Foundation
Format: 4-Person Best Ball Scramble – you can gather your own team(s) or if you are a single or don’t have a full group I will get you in one.
Date: Friday, May 27th
Time: Shotgun start at 9 or 9:30AM
Where: Chalet Hills Golf Club in Cary, IL
Cost: $150/person
Included: Golf, Cart, Lunch and Breakfast. There will, as always, be special domestic beer pricing on the course.
After Party: Broken Oar in Port Barrington
Other Details: We are still ironing out other details but there will competitions on the course longest drive, longest putts, closest to the pin and skins.
Other ways to help: We are planning on having raffle prizes (we will accept donations from other golf courses, restaurants, etc…) but this is not going to be a big dinner extravaganza. I know some of you would like to go back out and play more so we will keep some structure with lunch after and then you are on your way. We will probably have information coming on hole sponsorships but if you also know someone who doesn’t want to golf but can help out the day of the event that would be great.

Preference would be to pay in advance to avoid the rush when you arrive. Checks can be made payable to: thE WERTHy Foundation, 237 S. Wildrose Ct., Round Lake, IL 60073 or via PayPal using the email address of:

Please pass this on to family and friends in what I think most of you would agree is a very fun day and in the process you will be making a difference.!!!!!

So please let me know if you can play and your group (if you have a complete one) as soon as possible. Our goal this year is 100 people!!!! Thanks and please let me know if you have any questions.

Coins for a Cause Day

A huge shout out to Saint Peter School in Antioch. These kids chose thE WERTHy Foundation as the recipient for their “Coins for a Cause Day”. Erin’s story…. and why we have created this foundation…
Erin turned 13 on July 17th and has had seizures since the age of 4 months. While she continues to grow physically, developmentally she never moved from the 4 month plateau. Erin requires continued care, is non weight bearing, wheelchair bound, and does not speak or sit up. She has aVagusNerve Stimulator device and is tube fed. She has been through hundreds of tests and to this day, the only diagnosis has been Epilepsy. We have been lucky that our insurance has covered the majority of our bills, but we know others aren’t as fortunate. We also know how much time and effort facilities like Erin’s school put into therapy and teaching and adapting ideas that are molded specifically for children like Erin. For that reason we have started this foundationto assist those similarly impacted.

Our mission statement:
candlelight_bowling2“Through our network of family and friends, provide additional resources to facilities and institutions who aid in seizure/epilepsy care as well as families with a child who is dealing with seizures/epilepsy.” Our goal is to provide practical items whether it is training equipment, medical equipment, books, wheelchairs, etc… vs. solely monetary donations.
