2018 National Walk for Epilepsy

Join us at the 12th Annual National Walk for Epilepsy, April 14, 2018 as we lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy, accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives.

The money raised from the National Walk for Epilepsy helps the Foundation provide services for people living with epilepsy, provide awareness programs for proper seizure recognition and first aid, provide a voice to make sure health care options for people living with seizures remain strong, and provide much needed research funding toward better treatment options and ultimately cures.

WERTHy Foundation Golf Outing

Save the date!!!! The next fundraiser will be a golf outing on Friday, August 8th at Chalet Golf Club in Cary, IL. More details being worked out but wanted to get the word out.

The basics are a shotgun start around 9:30 or 10am with a casual cookout at the golf course to follow.

Coins for a Cause Day

A huge shout out to Saint Peter School in Antioch. These kids chose thE WERTHy Foundation as the recipient for their “Coins for a Cause Day”. On this day the students can be out of uniform and wear jeans and tennis shoes. Every student brings a dollar or more to donate to the cause. The students made posters to hang throughout the school. We are so proud of these kids for doing their part to raise Epilepsy awareness!!

Where: Lakes Bowl, 601 Railroad Ave, Round Lake

Cocktails at 7pm; Dinner at 7:30pm; Bowling at 9:30 pm

Cost: Bowling, dinner and 2 drink tickets per person= $100 per couple

Erin’s story…. and why we have created this foundation…
Erin turned 13 on July 17th and has had seizures since the age of 4 months. While she continues to grow physically, developmentally she never moved from the 4 month plateau. Erin requires continued care, is non weight bearing, wheelchair bound, and does not speak or sit up. She has aVagusNerve Stimulator device and is tube fed. She has been through hundreds of tests and to this day, the only diagnosis has been Epilepsy. We have been lucky that our insurance has covered the majority of our bills, but we know others aren’t as fortunate. We also know how much time and effort facilities like Erin’s school put into therapy and teaching and adapting ideas that are molded specifically for children like Erin. For that reason we have started this foundationto assist those similarly impacted.

 

Our mission statement:
candlelight_bowling2“Through our network of family and friends, provide additional resources to facilities and institutions who aid in seizure/epilepsy care as well as families with a child who is dealing with seizures/epilepsy.” Our goal is to provide practical items whether it is training equipment, medical equipment, books, wheelchairs, etc… vs. solely monetary donations.
